2016: 5 reasons why you should visit Asia this year

Whether you be travelling Asia top to bottom or visiting a beautiful country (or two) within, an Asian getaway is always a good idea. I have visited Asia on several different occasions stopping at Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China and Indonesia. This year Thailand and Vietnam are on my travel list.

I love Asia, and wish to do more and more of the beautiful continent as time goes on.

So here I have gathered a list of why you should book a ticket and jet off on a tropical holiday or a backpackers dream this year!

1. The Food

What better way to start than to talk about Asian Cuisine? Fried rice… can it get any better? For centuries, food has been used as a social activity and an art form. Food is an amazing way to taste culture, meet new people and hear their stories.

Food in Asia is found from within the villages, to the streets of the Capital cities. Some of the traditional Asian cuisine you must try when in Asia are dumplings, sweet and sour eggplant, a Chinese hamburger, stinky tofu and fried mashi to name a few.

2. The Beaches

If you enjoy sitting by the beach and listening to the waves crash on the shore, or the light ocean breeze in your hair, then Asia is the place to go. You are sure to be taken away on a tropical oasis with a cocktail or two with places such as Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and many more.

Sentosa Island in Singapore is one not to miss out on. With several beaches, Universal Studios and boardwalk’s. Sentosa Island is a holiday within itself! Trip Advisor has composed a list of things to do on your stay in Sentosa Island. Check it out here!

3. The Cities

The cities in Asia are beyond belief. If you love a city filled life with adventure, you’ll be sure to feel at home in some of the worlds most beautiful cities. Beijing is my personal favourite city in Asia. The atmosphere and adventure that fill the streets keep me fascinated and curious to go a little deeper and to discover Beijing in-depth.

Hong Kong has one of the most beautiful skylines I have ever seen. The bright lights of the buzzing city reflect off the water brightening the night and bringing it to life. Be sure to check it out and have your camera ready, unlike me which I unfortunately do not have a photo.

4. The Villages

The villages located throughout the countries of Asia bring alive the culture and traditions.

Join the locals in springtime to celebrate the beginning of the Lunar Year, or learn how to pray like a Buddhist in Thailand or even take a volunteer trip around Cambodia and help the less fortunate. The list is endless!

The people of Asia are extremely kind and welcome friendly tourists into their villages, as long as you respect the county you are in, they will make you feel as if you are family. A reason why I love Asia so much, I feel extremely welcomed.

Villages on your way from Beijing to the Great Wall of China are just an example of the thousand of villages that are found in Asia. Taking a day trip from Beijing to the Great Wall, you are sure to make a stop or two through these villages and get a real sense of what China really is about. On my Great Wall of China post I have spoken about my experience of a day trip I had and linked how to come across the best day trip for you.

5. The Experience

But most of all, the overall experience, memories and adventures you will have on your Asian adventure.

This year I have planned a Vietnam and Thailand trip, however Cambodia is on the table as well this year (fingers crossed).

I am super excited to get over there to record and write for you all, so you too can get away with me to Asia.
